Bad Move
This morning I walked out to the trash pit behind my house to throw away some food scraps. I've been extremely paranoid about snakes, so I carefully watched where I stepped. Unfortunately I missed seeing the wasps nest above my head and I got attacked. They only stung me twice - once on my arm and once on my leg. But the stingers are so big that both punctures started bleeding (remember, African insects are HUGE). Thankfully my mini-fridge has a freezer section (with an ice cube tray) and the swelling has gone down.
You win this round Africa.

Eeeek! My mom is gonna cringe when she reads this one. Glad you didn't get stung more than twice and really glad it wasn't a snake that got you...I really thought you were going to say a snake bit you. I was nervous! Lol
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Laura! I was thinking the same thing as Amber, another snake encounter, so I'm glad it wasn't that. But wasp stings aren't good either -- do you have any Benedryl? I hope you recover without any reaction to the stings. I assume you took a picture -- I'm surprised you didn't post it! Can't wait to get you home (at least temporarily!) Love you. Be careful. I worry.
ReplyDeleteLove, Mom
Again, Oh My Gosh, Laura! Seriously, do you have any Benedryl? That looks really painful. Have you thought about going over to the hospital since you live right there -- maybe they could give you something. (Or maybe it's another TIA and I shouldn't worry so much!)
ReplyDeleteLAURA!!!!!!!! Oh my hon!!!!!! Amber is right! You know I ran into a hive and and also was stung years later on the throat! I just came from the allergist. If that swelling doesn't go down, or you get any swelling in your throat, tongue mouth..you go to the Dr.immediately. If it is not getting better u may need to go.Sometimes they have to be sure the stingers are pulled out. that is huge swelling I would go to Dr. to be sure. also, u do need benedryl....I was not allergic when I was stung the 16 times from the hive, but became allergic at the time I was stung on the throat.U need to carry benedryl with you at all times, and if you are stung again, get to a Dr. and take a benerly immediately.Pleas email or facebook and let us know how you are!I just came from allergist check.Hugs, I am so sorry...PLEASE let us know how u are doing!
